It should be treated as a general guide to approval decisions but not as definitive. It does not deal with the detailed rules
for the specific categories of products of animal origin (in Reg 853, Ann III). If in doubt about the approval status of an
establishment, you are advised first to examine the regulations, guidance from the EU and the FSA, and to consult your food
liaison group, LACORS, the FSA or your own legal services.
There will also be a ABC Courses "Approved Premises" course available on the courses page
in the new year (2007), which will be beneficial to complete for background information.
In order to determine whether a given establishment falls within the scope of approval, obtain information about the business,
(the Products it makes, its Operations, its Customers, and the Amount it supplies), then answer the following questions. Click on
